This 12 month project supports teachers and leaders to improve mathematics results in their schools. It is targeted at students from Years 4-9 + Essential Mathematics.
Previous project results:
Our 2021 projects across all states show an improved growth rate of 40% compared to the same schools in the previous year.

Data analysis (PAT and NAPLAN) and how to interpret your school’s data.
Designing a numeracy plan for your school based on your data.
High-yield strategies suited to your school to maximising growth. |
Who should attend:
Teachers of primary (4-6) and secondary (7-9) students and school leaders.
Training and Resource Inclusions
- Six live training days (online if border closures become an issue): Two each in Terms 1 and 3 and one each in Terms 2 & 4. If a participant cannot make a live session, you may substitute another teacher, and we will endeavour to use recorded webinars to catch them up where possible.
- Data analysis for your participating teachers, including NAPLAN, PATM and targeted diagnostic testing in Place Value, Multiplicative Thinking and Proportional Reasoning, along with advice for how to address any areas of concern. This also includes resources to do your own analysis after the completion of the project, or to use with any other staff member in your school.
- Data evaluation and measurement of growth, including reports for each school participating
- Website Access for your participating teachers, providing 12 months access to all Back-to-Front Maths resources, for all grades, including adaptable work programs and assessment items. NOTE: schools with 3 or more participating staff receive website access for the whole school.
- Ongoing online mentoring (via zoom, email and inclusion in a closed Facebook group) accessible for 24 months
- Primary Teachers receive:
- 1 x Project Training Manual for them to keep
- Full set of Interventions Books
- 1 x Assessment and Moderation in Primary Mathematics manual with assessment rubrics suitable up to Yr-10
- Teaching Resource Pack for the Year Level they teach (can be swapped), comprising a Teacher Resource book and relevant student books.
- Secondary Teachers receive:
- 1 x Project Training Manual for them to keep
- Full set of Interventions Books
- Interleaved Maths Essential Connections Teaching Resource Pack suitable for the Essential Maths subject (and useful for Years 7-9 content teachers). Choose from a Year 11 or a Year 12 pack, comprising a Teacher Resource book and relevant student book.
- 1 x Assessment and Moderation in Primary Mathematics manual with assessment rubrics suitable up to Yr-10
How to get the best results out of this project:
We have found the best results are achieved when teachers and leaders participating in the project
- Work with a group of students for at least one lesson per week of mathematics throughout the project (using the resources provided or developed with project participants)
- Complete the diagnostic tasks provided, the interventions targeted to student growth and bring back the results within the specified times
- Analyse their own testing data (including provided tests, PAT M and NAPLAN if applicable)
- Share samples of student work gathered throughout the project
- Actively participate in discussions and share their own struggles and successes
Cost per participant:
